TIM 'RIPPER' OWENS Says New YNGWIE MALMSTEEN CD Is Turning Out 'Killer'

June 5, 2008

Acclaimed heavy metal singer Tim "Ripper" Owens (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, BEYOND FEAR, ex-JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH) has sent the following update to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"I have finished my vocals on the new YNGWIE CD and it's gonna be a killer CD. I had a blast in the studio with him good times! We will be starting a world tour real soon (in a few weeks). I have also been real busy myself. I've been locked away working on songs the last month or so, and before that I flew out to Los Angeles and worked on some songs there as well! I also just got back from John Comprix's [BEYOND FEAR guitarist] house where we worked on a few tunes! So things are rolling along...I will have some kick-ass info real soon,

"Also... I get asked about the new PRIEST and ICED EARTH all the time. Let me say this, GREAT JOB to both. I have only heard a few tracks but they sound kick-ass. Good luck to both of them and I hope to see you on the road for a beer! (Ken and Glenn, I will take a Carling.)

"I would also like to throw in a great job to Matt [Barlow; current ICED EARTH singer] on that PYRAMAZE CD [Matt sings on the new PYRAMAZE CD, 'Immortal' Ed.]. Man, I heard a few tracks on that as well; those are some kick-ass vocals. Nicely done!"

Denise Grollmus from the Cleveland Scene has written an extensive article on Tim "Ripper" Owens featuring quotes from a number of Tim's associates from the Ohio metal scene. Read the entire article at www.clevescene.com.

According to CDJapan.co.jp, Yngwie Malmsteen will release his new studio album in Japan on July 9. The LP's limited edition will feature the high-fidelity SHM-CD format (fully compatible with standard CD players) plus a bonus DVD containing interviews with Yngwie Malmsteen discussing the songs on the album and more.

Yngwie Malmsteen recently told Guitar World magazine that his forthcoming solo album will feature his strongest lineup ever: Tim "Ripper" Owens on vocals, Bjorn Englen on bass, Michael Troy on keyboards, and Patrik Johansson on drums. "It's going to come down like a fucking atom bomb!" Malmsteen said. "We've already recorded 39 songs. I went full out. I've got strings from Istanbul, and the drums are the heaviest I've fucking heard. Ripper conveys the lyrics I write like no one else. I'll write something like 'divide and conquer' and when Ripper sings it, it really comes out that way. It's like Sparta!"
